			<description><![CDATA[ I agree that Cee was a virgin and the dress accurately represents a dress from the 30&#39;s. It was the slit up the front that confused me when I saw the movie
before reading the book. As bigmac says, virginity was very special and sacred so having a virgin wear a dress slit up the front seemed out of character.
Without the slit, it seemed totally appropriate. I&#39;m just giving my first impressions of seeing the movie before reading the book. ]]></description>

had read the book. I was confused by the signals in the movie. The blood stained napkin was supposed to be a symbol of her virginity but I highly doubt that a
virgin in 1935 would have a dress slit up the front just hanging in her closet and wear it for dinner at home - or anywhere. Maybe they did in Hollywood but

			<description><![CDATA[ About the letter...actually I think the scenes in the book and in the film are a quite similar, because in the film Robbie is struggling with words to write an
apology letter, as in the book. The difference is that in the film when he writes something he doesn&#39;t like he throws away the paper, and in the book
he&#39;s writing everything in the same sheet...so he ends up writing the &quot;dirty note&quot; in the same paper as the apology. The effect is the same, I

In the book, he writes the formal one then I was under the impression he &#39;ruined&#39; it by adding on the extra... lines shall we say. I&#39;m not saying
the order in the film was wrong, I think it worked, but I preferred my interpretation of the book&#39;s order. It made it seem as if he was trying to write an

			<description><![CDATA[ Yes, I really think Joe tried to make some scenes in the film less brutal than in the book.

He offered Robbie some relief, in the form of his mother caring for him. Even if it was just an hallucination, he still had Grace there for him, didn&#39;t he?

Nettle was more tender in the film too. It made Robbie&#39;s final moments a <em>little</em> less harder to watch, because he had someone there being really
nice and understanding, and caring about him.

I agree, it&#39;s up to the viewer to interpret the ending...I thought it was one of the saddest endings I&#39;ve ever seen, even though they seemed so happy.
Robbie&#39;s look reminded me that their happiness wasn&#39;t real, and would never be.

But some people interpret Robbie&#39;s look as something hopeful; that maybe, yes, there are other ways to achieve happiness, that even fictional happiness

person, living in her imagined world, where she could rule, she could be God and center of the Universe. That&#39;s what she wanted and that&#39;s what she got
in her real life by writing her novels. And I can&#39;t forgive her - her success, being married and having the life Robbie and Cee could have had, but
