Um, we're just whipping a few fish (a.k.a. chicken drumsticks) around, MsM. Nothing serious. No chairs flying through the air or anything like that.

I clearly remember the Mr. Tumnus character from Narnia. But I never followed through on who the actor was. When I watched Atonement, I knew there was
something familiar about the face, but didn't make the connection until I looked him up after the movie. The scene in the library did it for me. And when
he was typing the letter...definately sexy. From there I watched Becoming Jane and Last King of Scotland. I'm working on seeing all of his older stuff
now. But the library did it for me. He has the most amazing eyes and facial expressions, and his personality in interviews is amazing: humble and adorable.
Then I saw some clips from Macbeth...oh my God. I have no words for how sexy that character is....
I'm waiting for it to come in the mail from Netflix.....so painful to
wait!!!!!

Yep, jltheriot, you've joined the right place! We ALL have it bad for this lovely, humble, sexy, adorable, smart, talented, and down-to-earth guy.
I've never had a celebrity crush like this before!
Last King of Scotland and BJ are both great! And I'm glad you're getting Macbeth--another of his triumphs. If you haven't seen it yet, you'll enjoy Shameless (Season 1 is available thru Netflix, but not Season 2.) And "Rory O'Shea was Here" is heart breakingly beautiful, and deserved a much-wider audience. "Starter for 10", where he plays a geeky, clueless university freshman, is also worth seeing. And considering that he filmed "Starter for 10" right after Last King of Scotland, (with sexy, confident Dr. Garrigan) it shows his immense versatility. So ENJOY your future movies! (Although I must say there are a few really early ones, like Bollywood Queen, that aren't that great. I just drool over the screencaps that Hannah has posted in that thread.) |

I finally made that same connection after watching Becoming Jane back in August 2007. Certain expressions he made had me thinking I'd seen him
somewhere before. I had seen Narnia with my kids several years before BJ but didn't remember him from that. I did the same thing as you
and started "researching" ( It's very exciting catching up on all the films/tv he's done that I haven't seen yet. I'm still working my way through it.
It's a dirty job but someone has to do it.

For me it was Becoming Jane as well. I do remember being captivated by the actor that played Mr. Tumnus, but never made the connection. Since then,
I've been watching anything I can get my hands on with James in it. Shameless is a current favorite and I breathlessly wait for the next episode
on the Sundance Channel. I've got my hubby watching that, but Jane is all mine. He's watched Atonement and enjoyed it, but not into
the Regent period films. That's okay by me as I get James all to myself on those occasions that he does not want to watch
Jltheriot...enjoy McBeth and the boards. We're an obsessed bunch here, but it's all good and there is tons to get familiar with on the board

I first noticed him in Children of Dune. I was watching it with my dad (I was forced really) and I saw him and it was like magic. I suddenly had a new spark of
interest in him and the movie.

i first saw him on shameless, my sister watched it and i got hooked by his smile. His gappy teeth and wonky grin made him
so incredibly adorable. Then Narnia was when i really fell for him, he just showed such talent and diversity, hes simply amazing.

I love this thread. It's very cool to hear everyone's personal impressions of James.
He is simply amazing, isn't he. Welcome to the board, jamessmile and chloe!

This may sound strange but I first fell for James in Atonement when he was sitting in the chair in the white wife beater and those white pants |

Wow, that's really an interesting story, auntecee!
By the way, welcome aboard!
And I totally understand your feelings...that scene was the sexiest I've ever seen James. Hell, it was the sexiest I've seen ANY actor perform!
James has that power, it's impossible to deny. I did almost exactly the same you did the first time I saw (well, not saw but really noticed him - the first time I saw him was in Narnia) James in "Inside I'm Dancing" - or "Rory O'Shea was here" on tv. I waited for the credits and wrote down his name to do some search about him. I think I've never been so impressed by an actor before, James amazed me immensely that day. From that moment on, he never let me down!

For me, it was in Atonement (the first movie I saw him in).. and if I had to pinpoint the exact scene that made me sit up and notice James, it would be
somewhere around here:
and then, of course, the letter and the library scene .. those just sealed the deal. Love ya, James. |

Atonement was when my fledgling passion for him skyrocketed! Not only he's stunningly beautiful in it, but his acting is superb. James was robbed of, at
least, a Bafta, says I!
I remember seeing a quick preview of the fountain scene and I was like "okay, not only he's a great actor but he's hot. Damn, I'm gonna fall for this guy." Ditto.

I must have told this a few times before already, but the exact moment for me must have been this one:
