Sorry Hannah!!!
One thing that gets me about the Regency period in general is how little physical contact there was, holding hands would be a complete shock, and a kiss... utterly unimaginable!!! I love that it was only through dancing they got to have contact with each other... Can you imagine the sexual tension... blimey. Edit: spoiler tag adjusted.

So I am guessing we have just totally given up on spoilerwarnings in here... ?
If you have a lot to discuss I can also make a subforum for this film with a seperate spoilerthread, but please please please keep this one spoiler free..

Sorry about that Hannah, I guess we have gotten a bit carried away. Since we are talking about her real life, I guess we've forgotten where to draw the
line and use the spoilers.

I don't understand where 'Christmas' comes from?

Lefroy's daughter Jane's middle name is "Christmas". It is a family name on the side of his wife Mary Paul.
It also happens to be the time of year that Lefroy and Austen met.

Ooooh, you two are sweet
(I really thought I had to go fix all those posts myself at first)
I can understand the 'getting carried away', but now that I discovered subforums, I can make them for the films that still have active discussions going on, so you wont have to worry about spoilers. So would you like me to do that? And about what is or isn't a spoiler: if it is information that gives away any plottwists or the ending, then it certainly is.. does that make sense?

Since we seem to forget to add the spoilers, perhaps a sub thread would be better, if it's not too much trouble for you to do. Thank you for suggesting it

Ellen is afraid it may get too choatic with subforums, and it does mean having to open en close extra windows/forums,
but it does give me the possibility to open special spoilerthreads, so I will do that for a couple of recent films and see how it works out..

Wow guys just been reading all of that, Makes me sad though to think that they never got togthere and to think that all they ever had was letters.
In honesty do we really know that all of the letters where destroyed and not passed down in family. Just a thought though eh

It's pretty well-documented that the letters were destroyed, Alessa. But who know, treasures do appear out of the blue sometimes - like a long-lost
Rembrandt that somebody had stored in their basement or something.

I typed some large excerpts from the book "Becoming Jane Austen" by Jon Spence a while back, if you're interested in reading it. They're way
back on Pages 58 and 59 of this thread. The parts I typed are mostly about Tom and Jane.

I know what you mean Alessa. The more I have read and learned about Austen, the more I am obsessed with the Austen/Lefroy story.
