"It's become a joy to seek out McAvoy's work, which is always surprising for its raw honesty. Interestingly, Wright often focuses on McAvoy's hands, which are as capable of registering conflicting emotions as any other actor's eyes."

There was a lovley article in the Scottish DailyRecord that was essentially about how Madonna helped Gerard Butler get over a throat infection when he was
working on RocknRolla with her husband/director Guy Ritchie. But there was an interesting little section that I thought people here might like to see.
It's rare for actors to talk about other actors, especially when they haven't just worked together - it's almost an unwritten law. But what he said
about James is just lovely. He didn't need to say anything, nor to be as expansive as he was. I think deep down that they are both just down-to-earth and
really nice guys.
.... Along with James McAvoy, Gerard is helping to tartan up Tinseltown. Taking time out in a Los Angeles hotel, he said: "Things have been going pretty well for me and James. He's just setting the world on fire. But I don't know if it's just luck that it happens to be a couple of Scots just now and next week it might be a couple of English." He starts laughing. But Gerard doesn't think he and James's successes are feeding off each other. Shaking his head he said: "I don't think my success has had any impact on James's career, and I don't think his success has had any impact on mine. I think maybe a while ago, when Jude Law and Ewan McGregor were around, maybe they in some way paved the way for a bigger acceptance of Scots and English in bigger Hollywood films. But I wouldn't say that is the case now. I don't think James is getting any roles because of me and vice-versa. I think he's getting roles because he's a great actor." ... ETA: Re-copied here as not everyone would read the Gerard Butler thread in General

That was really lovely ...Gerry is such a genuine guy, you could tell it was sincere, came strait from the heart. It's wishful thinking, but hope that
James read this, it's nice to be supported by a fellow actor and countryman.

This is from a random article about a movie that I've never heard of... but they made a reference to James that I thought was absolutely true... and
I'm sure you ladies can certainly agree.
"... James McAvoy in a tuxedo on a summer's day. Seriously, what is more beautiful than that? Nothing." (http://www.portlandmercury.com/portland/Content?oid=802201&category=22133) |

Quote from Premiere magazine:
Costar Thomas Kretschmann, who plays Cross, the rogue assassin that kills Wes' father, is equally complimentary. "James McAvoy is the perfect actor. It doesn't get better than that... I think he deserved an Oscar nomination for Atonement and The Last King of Scotland. As an actor, I've been just... in awe. He never did a wrong take, he's very smart, he knows what's important, and he's a nice person." Yay James!

Another THOMAS KRETSCHMANN quote:
I didn't have to help him. Trust me, he's great. He worked his butt off. He spent every day on set. He's holding the whole film, right? And so my scenes with him were…it was a pleasure to work with him, it was awesome. I think he's one of the greatest actors we have, in the world, all ages. I mean, it doesn't get better than that. He's so fantastic, he's such a good actor, and he's very smart, you know, and an easy person, a very nice guy, so you just watch and learn. And he's twenty years younger. So I'm sitting there and thinking, "Oh my God, this kid, he's so awesome." |

Wow! It sounds like Mr. Kretschmann has a non-sexual crush on James.

Reese Witherspoon on Casting James in "Penelope":
"James, we were just lucky to get James. The casting director suggested him and at the time I didn't know who he was. Christina had seen some of his work and she was a big champion of his. So was Jennifer Simpson, my producing partner. I watched some of his stuff and thought he was great. Of course he has become this big movie star now. I tease him and say, 'I got you when you were cheap.' That's not going to happen again. I'll never get him again. He's so great and I'm so happy for him to be having all this success. He's really versatile. You can believe him as a doctor, but also as a super spy. He's just wonderful" |

Lorna Scott who played Janice on Wanted had this to say about
James:
"The movie, which hit No. 1 in the U.S. box office, was full of a star-studded cast and crew, all of which Scott was thrilled to work with, but out of all these great talents, star James McAvoy made a great impression on her." "Working with James was a lot of fun; he is such a great guy," Scott said. "He will be lining his mantle with Oscars real soon. I'm convinced he can hold his own with anybody." Published on August 3rd by The Register Herald "Art washes away from the soul-- the dust of everyday life."
