Wouldn't it be available for everyone to see when you upload it to the net? image

Not if it's a private forum with members by invitation only. Also, being the owner, I can lock forums to only be seen by me as well as give other people their own forum that can only be seen by them & me. So, essentially, it is storage space. Anything that shouldn't be "published" is hidden in locked forums. Anything I want to share with a few select friends is in a forum that only them & I can see - so it still isn't published.

I never checked the cord (and am still not 100% certain that is what it was) because if you unplug a monitor from a computer it will give warning in the screen that there is nothing attached and/or go to standby. What was weird when my VGA card broke was that it didn't give a warning that it was not attached (because physically it still was), did not give a warning and did not go to standby. It was the frist time i had seen a monitor that was ON (according to the light) but the screen wasn't..
There are usually 2 cables to the monitor - one is the power cord - and that can be on without a connection to the machine.
The other is from the computer to the monitor - and that usually gives an error message if the monitor is on and the computer isn't, not the other way round. So, yes, it would be possible to have the monitor on (light indicator) and nothing on the screen, because the screen info comes from the computer link.

About the laptop: my back only feels good when itis completely stretched.. so on a couch with pillows in my back is not good. Sitting on a stool with an arched back is better. At least that way the nerve does not get irritated, but it is very tiring to sit like that, which is why I do it in short bits of time only. I only know realise what that may mean for NaNo image, but on the other hand that is still almost two months away.. (which is pretty much the same time I have had this problem now.. but hopefully enough to get it better again..

I remember your 3 novels well Seli.. who was it that talked you VFB girls into entering again..? image image
That first year with all of you was so good! image
I am not sure what I will write this year. You know I already did sort of a part 2 of my second novel. So maybe I will do a part three this year. I have already entered the regional forums where others are slowly starting to come in as well. If all goes well I will be a Municipal Liaison for my region this year! (yay!) image

Oooo! not so good with your back. I had hoped that if you could get the pillows to do the support work on your back that it might relieve the rest of your body and not tire you out so badly. As for fitting in NaNo if your back is still not better, you may have to change your approach, and schedule more but shorter stints while you do something in between that rests your other muscles.

Yes, I remember quite well who is to blame for my addiction to NaNo. Although I do quite readily also admit that each time I have learned more about "how" I write which is both interesting and valuable information.

That first year was good, wasn't it? Not as many starters as the following year, but more consistent members with a good drive to get it done, and a good support for each other. Later years had more starters, but not everyone finished like that first year.

They have started gathering already? Wow! Keen writers. I have the VFB comp to worry about first (sort of one third to halfway written). Good luck with the Liason position, you are going well with the organisational side of NaNo too.
