Me too, Larisie. It's hard to figure why they would opt NOT to have it screened at TIFF, but Toronto is HUGE and maybe without a big studio behind it to mount an award campaign coming out of there, they figured having it front and center at a smaller festival like Rome is preferable.

Paramount just rescheduled the release of Scorsese's Shutter Island from Oct. to Feb. 2010--word is because they want to put their limited 2009 marketing dollars behind George Clooney's Up in the Air which they think will come strong out of Toronto. Interesting to think about whether Zephyr/Egoli&Tossel even has the $$ to mount an award campaign for TLS. Could be one reason they're looking at a January 2010 release...so they don't have to.
