Remember that movie Backbeat? At least they managed to get the rights to music from the era (Chuck Berry songs, Little Richard, etc.) and used cover versions for the soundtrack.

I guess it depends where the movie ended off. They were starting to perform some of their own stuff in the clubs. Early days for sure, though. I just thought, if they're going to finally make a movie about John's early life, they'd cover all the bases. Especially a UK production.
