I read the book prior to seeing TLS. Even though I already knew the storyline, I was not prepared from the emotional roller coaster ride. TLS really caught me off guard and definitely did not disappoint. James McAvoy had said there are many comic and very dramatic moments. The funny scenes are really hilarious. The sad scenes are tearjerkers.

I've been reading the various reviews. A. O. Scott must have been out to lunch during the movie. He certainly missed the fine points. It sounds like he thinks with his head and has no heart. Many of the reviews give a lot of details about TLS and help me to relive those moments. Still the reviews just do not come close to revealing the emotional ups and downs in TLS.

It's definitely not in the dialogue. It's in the face, the body language, the tilt of the head, the movement or rather none movement. If you are truly willing to fully engage, you'll be like the fly on the wall, except you'll get to feel the turmoil, angst, joy, happiness, melancoly, all of the emotions from A to Z.

Michael Hoffman has stated on numerous occasions that James McAvoy is the glue that expresses what the audience is feeling at that moment. JM helps to bring out the humor and/or pathos of the various family members and followers. TLS has such life and breathe one becomes a part of their life.

Can't wait for the general release so I can drag all of my family to see TLS.
