I think that I have to say that a lot of the reviewers right now are probably tired and are trying to get in as much as they can before the end of the year. I think many are not engaging in the films and are relying on their peers.

Now, I think both sides of the pond have great actors and all of who Island named for Americans have paid their dues. Mirren is very much appreciated here, though for many only became aware of her from her role in the Queen. You also have to remember we do not see a lot of the films made and distributed in the UK. I remember Mirren back from "Excaliber"......which did a tremendous box office here in the states way back then (btw - still one of my all time favorites, sucker for King Arthur saga).

Christopher Plummer, mainly known for supporting roles here when movies that he has been in have made their way over here. AMD, has not had any film here until now. Though I suspect "Nowhere Boy" will be here and people will notice her. Kerry Condon - no reviews that I've read have mentioned her really. Even fans who have seen it don't really say much....which I still don't understand.

There have been good reviews for James from NY - but to be honest, this is not a role like "Robbie" or "Dr. Garrigan" which indeed he should have been acknowledged with a statue. Hell, I think he should have been acknowledged for Rory O'Shea - but that I believe only came here (Inside I'm Dancing in the UK), on DVD. Though no US Statues given....there write ups on James performances for both Atonement and LKoS were extremely positive. IN that sense he was acknowledged.
