How funny is this guy? |

Mr. McAvoy is ever charming, humble, and entertaining when interviewed. Whenever his acting skills are complimented I
love it when he just says "thanks very much" and gives a shy little look. He seems to try to make everyone laugh as well, perhaps to entertain
himself throughout dull promotional periods. I sure hope it's not an act, because his personality is a part of what is so attractive about him. Someone
posted this video to the IMDB message board a few months ago and wanted to make sure everyone has seen it.
Such a cutie!

OMG that clip is soooooo funny!!!!
for posting it!
And yes he is a very funny guy, and I am sure it is not an act. You cannot fake being that quick-witted and having such good comic timing! I love the way he immediatly says 'time machine' without blinking even ones. Gaaawd, I LOOOOOVE funny men!
I will see if I can ripp the clip off line, so let me know if anyone wants it. There are some more clips of James being very funny in interviews. I will see if I can post some later Great topic Emilie! (boy am I glad I fixed that bug now! |

I was able to rip the clip.

You will need an FLV player to play it. You can download a good one here: http://dl.filekicker.com/send/file/193122-0O88/FLVPlayerSetup.exe (click right and choose: 'save as'
Another clip:
He is being very witty in this one as well, although he also looks a bit nervous! It is from the Craig Ferguson show: http://youtube.com/watch?v=xeD33PiyrkQ |

I'm so glad that you liked that clip!
It's one of my favorites. Such a devastatingly quick wit on that one.
My favorite part is the end when they talk about Star Trek. (I'm a Next Generation fan.)
That Craig Ferguson clip is hilarious! I like the "dodgy,
dodgy insects" conversation.

Hey, huge Star Trek fan here too! My nr one is Voyager though, but I love NG as well!
Don't you just love that borg smilie! I have had it for years, but finally have my own board to add it too!!
I once did this manip about James playing Scotty in the next ST film..
And I loved the part in the dodgy insect conversation where he says: 'My wife would be very offended if I went mmwwwuhaaa'
But did he not look nervous when he sat down, or right after he sat down when he kept shifting in his seat or when he said silly things like erasing Craigs sister from his memory?

Ooooo...he looks good in uniform, eh?
That's an awesome trick, Hannah. "Beam me up, man."
He did look quite nervous in that clip. You've probably seen this one of him on the Paul O'Grady Show already, but his nervousness is so cute: http://youtube.com/watch?v=g2ioKsoykZs (Your Borg smilie is so rad! )

I had a whole answer but I lost it when I clicked a wrong button!!
That Paul O-Grady clip is very cute as well. He seems so nervous in the beginning. he just sits there with his shoulders all tense and his eyes wide. he does seem to get a little more comfortable when he starts talking about his female mullet and being in the depths of hairdressing hell though.. But then the
tense shoulders come back and so do the nervous remarks. But I love how he waves to his grandmother and calls her gorgeous!
It is like he is much more nervous to go on talkshows than he is doing these filminterview with only the interviewer, cameraman and maybe a co-star in the room. In that SFT clip you posted in the first post he doesn't seem nervous at all! |

Okay, I know everyone's probably seen Starter for 10 already, but this scene never fails to crack me up!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=4vQVndCK5nI Maybe he plays stoned so well because he's such a joker in real life (or has had some experience with Mary J)? |

Oh no! I cannot watch that scene!
In Dutch we call that 'substituted shame'. I have never been good at watching those things. I always have to walk away from the TV as well when you can see womething is gonna go soooo wrong. It is like watching a car-wreck, I can't do it
I also think he overacts way too much in this film. Or maybe overacting is not the right word.. he is TOO much of a nerd. Cute as he may be, in this film he is so nerdy, it is just not believable for me ANY girl would be interested in him.. at all!
And he not that realisticly stoned to me. He acts the way most poeple think a stoned person acts, but it is too cliché to be very realistic. But then I don't think that was what this film was going for. So his performace is fine for this scene I don't think any of these things are James's fault though. I think that is the acting the director was going for, because if it was not, he would have had to steer James in another direction. That is what directors are for after all. I would have liked it better if Brian would at least have been trying to look cool and masculine, but would have fallen through that disguise every now and then by being clumsy for instance. And then the girls would have thought his clumsyness to be cute. That would have been much more believable for me. It's all my opinion though, feel free not to share it with me

The fact that he has a sense of humour rises his charm level even higher!
And he was so polite as well with his costar from Starter for
Ten, who appeared a little shy. That video was so worth the watch! I adored it! And the reporter seemed so cracked up, it was really cute.

That is what made me laugh most I guess, that you just kept hearing the reporter completely in stitches behind the camera
