TV star's brother on stab rap
By JOE BRYAN
August 20, 2007
THE brother of Shameless star James McAvoy will face court today on an attempted murder charge.
Donald McAvoy, 17, was arrested after a late-night row outside a pub which left two men with stab wounds and a third with minor injuries.
He will appear in his home city of Glasgow, where he lives on a tough housing estate.
Donald and actor James, 28 - seen last year in The Last King of Scotland, based on the story of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin - are half-brothers.
They share the same dad, James senior, a 49-year-old builder.
James, who was brought up by his grandparents after his parents divorced, has not spoken to his father for 20 years.
Speaking earlier this year of his childhood, he said: "I was a bit emotionally screwed up."
