Closet James Fan
Well, I guess I'm not going. The place never called me back. Probably had to have some actor/film affiliation and I have no LA contacts to run down to the theatre and see what's going on. I could never locate the other date...December 12th and what venue. I looked all over the Atonement thread again and apparently I forgot to write it down. Oh well...I'm pretty sad. I really, really, really wanted (no pun intended) to see him in the flesh at a Q & A. Perhaps when WANTED comes out, he'll do this merry go round again. Hopefully, I'll be a bit more aware of what is going on so I can plan. I wish I could've hooked up with an LA fan. Boo hoo!

You'll have a great experience seeing Atonement then, at least according to one newspaper reviewer who said that the less you know about it going in, the more stunning it is. Unfortunately, I've read the book (TWICE!), watched all the trailers and YouTube clips, and read every article I can find. You've been smarter. You can come back AFTER the movie, and still read the threads. As for me, I can't even figure out when it will be playing locally. Seems like that's a nation-wide problem--lots of people wanting to know WHICH cities have the limited release on Dec. 7, and how long the wait is for everybody else.
Janna, that's EXACTLY the position I'm in. I've tried not to see too many clips, but I have started reading the book. None of the theaters in our area will tell me if they'll be showing Atonement or not. It sucks!

No fluckin' kidding Janna..I looked for the movie locations today fully expecting (since I took 1/2 day off to watch the movie w/o anyone knowing!) that I'd find several to choose from. AMC didn't even have it listed and they told me it's "limited release" so my city may not even be on the list. NO FEAR, just checked tonight and 1 little artsy-farsty theatre has it playing December 7th. That's where I'll be!!! Can't wait...I swear. As to trying to avoid the trailers, etc. If I see a movie I think I'll probably go see at the theatre, I will try and not even watch the trailers if they come on. Even ones that I eventually rent but was thinking of watching...I found if I hadn't seen "this or that" it would've been so much better or vice versa when I haven't seen the trailer and then do, the damn thing spoiled the movie. You can practically tell the whole movie!
