The YUKU team is getting closer to ending YUKU's beta status. This means that they are eliminating software bugs and making the format more stable for its users. Until recently, YUKU has hosted ad-free communities. But they have began to work with advertisers in order to pay for the ability to host the communities. The ad-supported version of Yuku is still free to users. If, however, a member of JMMB hates ads and wants to prevent them from showing up on our board, there are a couple of ways to achieve that goal:
Become a Contributor:
When you make a contribution, you support an ad-free community. That means that all active JMMB members will not see Yuku
ads on our board, and all of the members owe you a big hug.
The costs depend on how busy the board is. If we stay under 50,000 page views* a month this is the deal:
For 1 month ($6 USD), 3 months ($18 USD), 6 months ($30 USD = 17% cheaper), or 1 year ($54 USD = 25% cheaper).
The Board will be Free from adds to all visitors.
(However at the moment we are at about 90,000 page views a month, so we actually get the following deal:)
For a board over 50,000 page views a month you pay per ad-free page views:
For 60,000 ad-free page views ($6 USD), 90,000 ($18 USD), 180,000 ($30 USD=70% cheaper), or 360,000 ($54 USD=25% cheaper).
In that case only Yuku Supporters and Active members will not see ads, because those are the settings we chose for this board.
Now, at first the over 50,000 deal sounded really bad, but after all the confusion has been cleared it turns out it is really good because we only pay for the pages that have ad's, which is only half of the thread-pages.
So if our page view is 60,000 per month, this does NOT mean that we pay for 60,000 views because community contributions are only applied to the pages that serve ads.
- Directory (the main page of your community) does not have ads. So anyone who views the main page, this view is not counted in the views we pay for.
- Forum pages do not have ads
- Search pages do not have ads
- Login pages do not have ads
- New topic pages do not have ads
- View kudos pages do not have ads
- Peripheral pages (calendar, community profile, etc..) do not have ads
- Yuku supporter views are not being counted.

- A big hug by us, your board team and lots of kisses from all the active members that thanks to you will not see ads in thread pages for a certain amount of time.
- A complimentary Yuku Supporter Account (or days added to the one you already have) for the following amount of
time:
$6 for one month or 30,000 add free pageviews gives the contributor a bonus 1 month of supporter status; etc.
(So the $18 gives you 3 months of supporter status, $30 gives a bonus 6 months and the $54 gives you a free supporter status for a whole year.) - 'Contributor' added to your Custom Name so everyone can see who the great beneficiaries are!

You can also buy a special JMMB T-shirt or other item in Dorothy's (Jamesfanus) Cafepress store, since half of the proceeds will also be contributed to the board.

Become a Yuku Supporter:
With Yuku Supporter you get a personal no-ads account. That means that you will not see Yuku ads on any message board or
profile page that you visit (although, you may occasionally see ads that are served by board owners, which Yuku does not control). Other benefits of being a
YUKU Supporter are:
Five Extra Profiles: Supporters have the option of creating an extra five profiles (great for role-players) for a total of ten
profiles.
Five Extra Signatures: Supporters can create and save five extra signatures to switch between when posting for a total of ten signatures.
Extra Image Hosting Space: Supporters receive 100 MB of image hosting space. Non-Supporters receive only 30 MB.
And there are even more smaller benefits like being able to hide your online status, should you want to, and maybe Yuku will add more
things over time.

What does the board get when I become a Yuku supporter?
Having many Yuku supporters is extra important to the board when we are a 50,000K+ board (which we are at the moment I write this), because your ad-free
pageviews will not count towards the board. After all, you have already payed for them yourself, so if you view pages that would normally have ads, you see
them add-free, but no pageviews will be deducted from the boards Ad-free pageviews you or others may have contributed for!
So the more Yuku supporters we have amongst our active members, the longer our contributions will last us!

* a page view is each time a page on the board is viewed by someone visiting the board. Whether they are members, non-members are guests. An ad-free page view is every time a page that normally has ads is viewed without the page displaying any ads.
