What are Locked/Hidden forums?
We have some forums on the board that are not open to lurkers or newbies. Some of those are hidden.
An example of the forum that is closed for guests lurkers and newbies but still visible on the board is the Long Time Members Only forum.
An example of a forum that is hidden for guests, lurkers and newbies is the 18+ forum.
At this moment in time, those are the only two forums, but should we decide to add more, they will have pretty much the same rules as I will now explain for the two existing forums.
What is inside these forums?
The Long Time Members Only forum mostly contains threads where members can share some more personal information. I am very much against posting personal stuff on the open board, which is why I made this forum. So this forum is there for the active members to get to know each other a little better without having to post personal information or photo material on the open board.
The 18+ forum has adult content. You know.. screen captures from LKOS, juicy Fan Fiction... etc.
Since the open board is PG 13, I only let in people that are over 18. Because members share more personal stuff in there as well, you only get in if we know you well enough first.
What do I need to do to get access to Long Time Members Only or 18+?
Long Time Members Only will open up automatically after you have been active regularly on the board for a certain amount of time. So you do not have to apply for it.
18+ will become visible also after you have been active regularly on the board for a certain amount of time. But once it is visible you still have to apply for it. You will get access if you are over 17 and if we know (and like) you well enough by then.
(Once you have access but you stop posting regularly, the forums may close up for you after a while again.)
How long will that take?
That is something you will just have to wait and see, also because every now and then we change that. Plus if you post regularly but not very often, it may take longer than when you post daily.
Will a higher post count get me in there quicker?
NO
There is a minimum post count involved as well, but it is very low and if you post regularly you can easily make it.
But then there is STILL the minimum waiting period before if becomes visible.
If you are enthusiastic and post a lot, that is great, but be careful, because if we feel you might be spamming in a futile effort to get into the closed forums quicker we will actually ADD time to the minimum for you and you will have to wait longer. It may also result in you getting a maximum post limit per day and a lot of members disliking you for waisting their time with futile posts..
But that's so frustrating!!
Trust me, we realize that, but it weeds out the one day flies, the one post lurkers and it gives you time to get to know the members of the board a little better and us the chance to get to know you a little bit better and by the time you get access it will be so much nicer for all of us and totally worth the wait.
