Wahaha, thanks for reminding me Blue.. I had forgotten about that
I'll see what I can do, I am definitely partcipating again this year, but I have become a NaNo Rebel. I wont follow the rules, because I am going to draw a complete cartoon book this year instead of write a novel!! Thanks for bumping the thread Tina, I just came in here to do that, but you already did.
I wonder if Seli will participate again this year or not.. She has been doing it only one year short of me. I hope she is in again this year

Yipes--38 minutes to go until NaNo starts, and I STILL haven't decided which of my ideas to go with.
I haven't felt this stressed since college when I used to do my research papers from start to finish the day before they were due.

I was sooooooo nervous a few minuted before midnight!! But then we always gather in the Dutch forum chat to start all
together. I ended up not doing much last night, but I already did a rough version of one page for my cartoonbook today. So one more page (I will do 2 a day I
just decided) and then make the 'clean' versions :-)

I got 2728 words done since midnight and kind of gave up for the rest of the day today. I think I need to sit down and figure out some of the logistics before
I keep writing, otherwise I'm going to have a huge mess on my hands. I felt like I had to stop writing about every 3 paragraphs to go look up historical
information, etc., so a bit more planning is necessary.

I started posting my first cartoons in a thread on my home forum:
http://www.nanowrimo.org/nl/node/3297824 Some of the comments are in Dutch, but the cartoons are all in English :-) Tina, what's your nano-name? I am HannahK Seli PM-ed me that she is doping NaNo too this year, but she may still be on the Canberra Film Festival at the moment I also invited a VFB friend who does NaNo as well to come over here and join us in this thread. Her name is Janie

LOL Those are great cartoons so far, hannah! That's exactly what I was going through on 10/31--"Do I write a romance? Or horror/mystery--I haven't
done that in a while? Or historical fiction? Which one???"
My Nano name is tkukla. It'd be nice to have some writing buddies on there this year--last year I was solo. I'm planning on writing more tonight--I did some productive brainstorming last night and came up with a few more ideas, so I'll see where it goes.

I had a good writing night--I just got over the 5,000 total mark. I could probably write a little more, but I'm getting tired, plus I'm just getting to
the first creepy moment in the story and I really don't feel like scaring myself half to death playing the scene out in my head just before bed!

hahaha, sounds like what my MC in my cartoon-of-the-day was going through last year when she was writing horror.. she
got scared of her own story (and those cartoons are usually autobiographical by the way.. so I quit my horror story after a few days.. lol)
Did you see my cartoon booklet yet? http://www.nanowrimo.org/nl/node/3273593 I am also designing some merchandise (see lower in same thread) So that is what made me decide to do a cartoon story this year. Because that is the only actual tangible 'book' that ever came out of NaNoWriMo for me in the past 7 years! :-D Haven't done anything today yet. Need to deal with some other problems first unfortunately... I will add you to my buddy list on the site. 5K is a good buffer already!

lol I didn't scare myself too badly writing that first scary scene tonight, but it's relatively benign anyway--just a hint of the weirdness to come in
the story. I can make it a little scarier when it comes time to edit, but 'edit' is a bad word right now.
I got to 7115 words tonight--I'm a bit ahead of where I was on Day 3 last year. I'm just really going to have to stay on top of this if I want to finish it before vacation. If I keep writing at this rate, I will hit 50K on 11/20, which is the day I'm leaving for vacation and won't be home until the 28th, possibly the 29th, and I don't want to cut it that close. The cartoon book is cute! The cartoons are really dead-on accurate as to what EVERY NaNo writer goes through this month!

Thanks (so buy one..
wow only 20 days for NaNo.. I usually try to do it in 25 so I can create a 5 day buffer.. but you only have 20... so if you want a buffer you have to write twice as much each day!! |

So far I'm averaging about 2300 words a day (which, if you multiply that by 20 days, only brings me to 46,000). I'm going to have to spend a LOT of
time at the computer this weekend and keep that count going up. I think if I have a couple good blocks of time to write this weekend and next weekend, I can
finish it by the 20th.
One of the reasons I can do this much writing each evening is because my sig. other is out of town, so the house is quiet, plus it's staying clean since I've barely set foot anywhere else except my home office the past 4 days, so I'm spending minimal time on housework and dishes.
And the new total after tonight's session is now 9145. |

Cool Tina! (but wait.. if you want to be done by the 20th you need to go a little faster, right?
)
I am doing 2K a day and I am on shedule. I just finished the 10 page, so my wordcount equivalent is 10K!! Yeah!
But tomorrow I am going to the Holland Animation Film Festival all day. So maybe I can do something in the train, but I'll probably fall behind again. I am sure I'll catch up over the weekend though :-) Wonder where Seli and Janie are...

I got to 11,288 tonight. I'm glad I started early--I have a headache setting in despite the ibuprofen I took, so it's going to be early to bed for me
tonight. Usually I'm only about 15 minutes into the writing at this time of night (it's about 9:15 here).
Yes, I do have to go a little faster if I'm around 2300 words a day, but I can usually double my daily numbers on Saturdays and Sundays, so that will help. The weather here is supposed to be gorgeous all weekend, so I may go out early in the day and then spend the evenings writing. It's dark here by 5pm now anyway. |

I'm up to 17,543 so far, and the weekend is still young.
I would love to get to 23,000 by tomorrow night if possible, but I'm going to have to sit
down and outline where I want the second half of the story to go now that things are really cooking plot-wise.

I've made a pitiful start - only 2980 words so far - but yes, I have been at the film festival just got back from the last one so will have to write up the
reviews for this weekend. Quite a coo - we were the second audience in the world to see "Nowhere Boy" as our final movie (and another great role for
Ann-Marie).
The rest of the week has been rather work-thwarted but I hope this will ease up a bit in a little while. |

Whew, I made it--23,004 total! I cannot believe I did almost 10,000 words this weekend!
The last 50 were literally the most difficult ones to write. I am right at another crucial scary point in the story, but I didn't want to get too deeply into it tonight, so I had to squeeze every single possible word out that I could think of in that last paragraph to make it to that 23K mark. So, tomorrow night--more mayhem, more things that go bump in the night...and hopefully another 2,000 words!

I had some trouble cartooning the last few days, but finally made it up and am now a little ahead at 16,4 pages (16400
words)
Nice to see you here Seli! And don't worry you will catch up! You always do

I'm just over the halfway point--25,123 words. If I average about 2500 over the next ten days, I can have it done by the time I go on vacation. I think
it's doable, especially considering it's going to rain here all weekend--good time to stay inside and keep writing!
lol I need to shut my brain off for the night, though--I just finished writing the creepiest scene so far, and I need to stop thinking about it before I go to bed!
